Registering for Sprints

Sprints are collaborative coding sessions on the last two days of the conference.

- Are the sprints for me?

YES! Even if you are a novice, the sprints have a beginner-friendly track to teach you how to contribute to open source. There is no better way to improve your programming skills and your knowledge of the most popular scientific libraries. And if you're already an experienced programmer, the sprints are an excellent opportunity to try to fix thorny bugs or add exciting features to your favorite libraries. Sprints provide an opportunity to meet the authors of your favorite packages, learn from working with others more experienced than you, and contribute.

Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, the Conference Sprints (July 11-12) are free to all. We ask that you register so we may have an accurate count for space and catering.

Registration FAQ's

We are very grateful to our sponsors for helping to provide this financial aid. The deadline for the financial aid application is March 19, 2020. The application may be found here.

I am an international attendee. What if I have trouble obtaining a visa or if I am denied entry into the US?

SciPy will provide a 100% refund to attendees who have registered, but could not obtain a visa or were denied entry into the US.  We do require written documentation that your visa was rejected or that you arrived in the US but were denied entry.

When will I select which tutorial I want to attend?

Individual tutorial sessions will be announced in late March. At that time, you will receive an email to log into your registration and make your selections. Our most popular tutorials do sell out and you will need to register in advance for your individual sessions. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Jill Cowan at

What is the SciPy Mentorship Program and how do I register?

For the second consecutive year, SciPy will be organizing a mentorship program. The program is designed to connect student attendees with more experienced developers in their area of interest (academia, industry or government/national lab). The students and mentors will both receive each other’s contact information and some potential meeting times. The mentor volunteers will give students a networking contact and can help them with a range of topics from getting feedback on their research to understanding the gap between academic work and industry requirements. Students attending the mentorship session are expected to come prepared with questions.

Attendees registering as a student or scholarship recipient will be given the option to sign up to receive a mentor during the registration process. Those registering as an academic or standard attendee will be able to volunteer as a mentor during registration. You must be attending the conference portion of SciPy (July 8-10) to participate in the program.

Am I able to pay by check?

Yes, the SciPy conference is able to accept checks and purchase orders. However, payment must be received prior to the first day of the conference. Checks should be made out to Enthought, Inc. and mailed to:
