PyMeasRF: Automating RF Device Measurements Using Python

Electrical device research often requires integration of several pieces of test and measurement (T&M) equipment in new or unusual configurations. While T&M manufacturers sometimes offer easy solutions for integration, this may require purchase of software, may not be compatible with devices from rival manufacturers, or may not be available for older equipment. In these cases, researchers must resort to using SCPI or lower level commands to control instruments. This work involves a python wrapper that was developed to implement these commands into advanced measurement routines, demonstrated through the presentation of two case studies involving RF resonators and oscillator injection locking.
